Hi there, you’ve found us – a new community of food rescuers based in Hitchin, a medieval market town in North Hertfordshire. In fact the first Fairtrade town in the county, we’re so excited to bring this innovative approach to ensuring we make a dent to the very sad situation we find ourselves in when it comes food waste, food that’s absolutely not ready for the bin far less landfill.
Over the past year and over many a cup of steaming hot coffee and homemade cake, we’ve crafted a team – members of our community well versed in all manner of wonderful things like design, and a web specialist and volunteer coordinator, photographers and cooks, drivers and even befrienders, people driven to action for the sake of our mutual wellbeing. We’re doing this to bring you opportunities to think again, to consider changing old habits, to save perfectly good food from the bin and instead feed our tummies.
You’ll be hearing from our bloggers about recent happenings in the world of environmental activisim, and chatting with our volunteers at the hub. Join us, tell your neighbour, your friends, family, school. We’re ready for you and ready to take action, let’s taste the benefits of keeping our food out of the bin and instead onto the dinner table.
See you really soon at the hub, Em
